The Conservative movement is mostly a direct response to a determined socialist push launched in the 1960’s. What separates the two opposing political spectrums, left and right, more than anything else is not policies, philosophies, traditions, or social doctrines. It’s really God. Conservatives embrace God, or at least Godly doctrines. They consider it to be a part of their American heritage. Liberals do not.
Before the outcry I’ll acknowledge that there are conservatives who do not believe in God and Liberals who do, but they are not the rule. Christian liberals tend to hang their hat on one issue of importance, such as animal rights, and otherwise avoid the radical elements. The same on the right may happen with nonbelievers when they call themselves “fiscal conservatives,” perhaps upset with the obvious reckless overspending of Congress. These folks obviously exist but they do not make up the mainstream of either political side.
The focus of conservatism really is God based. Conservatives want Judean -Christian traditions and observances to be not only allowed, but continued in the same manner as they have been since 1776. Conservatives find their biblically based beliefs derided and openly oppressed by the very system constitutionally designed to prevent such discrimination, especially religious discrimination. The political left has taken opportunity through academic dominance to secure court appointments and use those appointments to legislate the suppression of God literally from the bench.
Along with government suppressions of their basic beliefs, Conservatives also face unwanted impositions of new ones. Abortion is one example. So is the definition of traditional marriage. Same with social indoctrination in public schools. The traditions of honest representation and personal liberty are God given rights to conservative Christian Americans, and they are being legislatively targeted and judicially removed. Under a false pretext of separation of Church and State, the left has used their judiciary advantage to stymie religious expression. As much as the Obama foray into full and reckless socialist doctrine has ignited a groundswell of opposition, the recent Tea Party movement is as much a religious protest as it is a political one.
Politically liberals are Socialists with no core belief in God in general, and especially that of a Christian God. They see God as an impediment to their goals of equalizing the working class, and ruling over society. Liberals believe the end justifies the means, and without a standard of God to adhere to those means often include violence, deceit, bribery, and legislative imposition. The group that opposes this most obstinately are Christians.
The Bible shines a light on ungodliness. People that endear themselves to promiscuity, drugs, greed, power, perversions, and dishonest gain detest biblical judgments. Hollywood actors, producers, mainstream journalists, television producers, and left oriented politicians do all they can to discredit Christ followers. They have control of many public microphones which they use to rail against anything Christian.
Liberal politicians who join religious congregations do so for political and social reasons. They make back door deals, reward campaign donors, enact shady legislation, spin truths, support abortion, and promote influence peddling, without an iota of conscience. They openly pass anti-Christian laws and policies under the banner of social
justice often referencing God, but they do not follow Christian Doctrine.
Leftists have a tactical advantage. They feel at liberty to use lies, bribes, manipulation, or even violence to achieve their aims. One would have to be deaf, dumb, and blind not to see the obvious difference between any given Tea Party demonstration and a typical Arizona Law protest, though the journalists on the left are blind to it. In spite of the obvious bias, the tactics are bold and intimidating because they’re meant to be.
When it comes right down to the basics, when you sift through the rhetoric about fairness and social justice, the struggle before us now is between Godlessness and Godliness. Yet in the face of all of the unfair tactics the left imposes, Christian Americans still have one tool to use that is uniquely theirs. The power of Prayer.
When you get right down to it, That’s what the fight is all about.

Mr. Burton refused to approve a comment I posted to this same story on his blog, so I will try here:
While I agree somewhat with Mr. Burton’s notion that a major (if not the major) defining characteristic that divides liberal/conservative ideology is beliefs regarding faith, I wish to pose a question: why, if he opposes suppression of and imposition on his beliefs, would it be okay to do so to others in the name of his own beliefs? For example, he cites the right to choose and the legalization of gay marriage as impositions on his beliefs; if Mr. Burton opposes these things on the grounds that they infringe upon his beliefs, why would he oppose those things when they themselves are the expression of the beliefs and wishes of others like him? For gays and lesbians who wish to marry the person they love, Mr. Burton’s position is in itself a suppression.
Also, I would go one step further and question just why these things impose upon Mr. Burton’s faith so much? As the cliché goes, if Mr. Burton opposes gay marriage, he is free not to have one. The same goes for abortion: if you oppose it personally, you are always free not to practice it. Shouldn’t others have the same freedoms as you?
A few more thoughts…
“Leftists have a tactical advantage. They feel at liberty to use lies, bribes, manipulation, or even violence to achieve their aims.”
Unfortunately for us all, this “tactical advantage” is not solely employed by liberals, nor atheists; conservative and liberal candidates alike use these immoral tactics all the time. I’ll spare you the grief of posting a list of Christian, conservative “values” candidates who were at one time guilty of these faults– because I’m sure we can all name a few from memory.
“One would have to be deaf, dumb, and blind not to see the obvious difference between any given Tea Party demonstration and a typical Arizona Law protest, though the journalists on the left are blind to it.”
Actually, you may be surprised to learn that the “liberal” media (in actuality controlled overwhelmingly in this country by conservative, corporate interest) has covered the tea party on an exponentially disproportionate level to immigration protests. On tax day this year, a few thousand tea party sympathizers turned out on the same day as 200,000 people protesting the US’s immigration policies. The media is overwhelmingly biased toward the tea party because polls have shown that the average tea party subscriber is wealthier than the average American, and therefore more likely to patronize those to whom the media sells advertising.
Clearly we disagree. What I do agree with is your right to disagree and the way you present your views. Orderly, and considerate of other views. That’s is the essentially point that I’m trying to make. I disagree with anarchy when it’s imposed by any side.
America has really gone so far when it comes to liberalism. Hate to see this, but it is now hard to explain to my people what it really means to be Christians when its totally different from what many (not all) American Christians are doing.
I think the main problem is, people failed to suppress the imposition of too much liberalism. And this is what eats up America’s moral standard.
The issue of same sex marriage is way too far from Christian belief and moral standard.

I don’t believe that opposing to same sex marriage is an issue of discrimination. It’s just simply immorality.
